REVEREND ALISTON THOMAS

Reverend Al Thomas is first and foremost a servant of God!

He was born and raised in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands and is the middle of five siblings (one sister and three brothers).  He graduated from St. Croix Central High School in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands.

His background is in chemistry, business and theology.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with concentrations in philosophy and theology from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.  He then earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  After working as a Senior Research Scientist at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York, he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he earned an MBA in Strategy and Marketing.  He also holds a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.  He is completing his Masters of Divinity degree at Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, OH. 

Reverend Thomas has served in various roles in ministries.  He served as the Director of Multi-Media ministry at First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland and was very active in their Sons of Allen Ministry.  He then served on the Ministerial Staff at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Delaware, as well as the Director of Christian Education.  There Reverend Thomas taught Bible Study for the general congregation and Sons of Allen (Men’s Bible Study), tutored math and science students, and still serves on the 6 AM Early Morning Prayer Ministry.

In June 2016, he was appointed by Bishop Gregory G.M. Ingram as God’s servant at Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church in Oxford, PA.  In addition to being involved in the Oxford Ministerium, he looks forward, in partnership with Allen-Oxford, to increase our contribution and service to the Oxford community and surrounding areas.

Reverend Thomas has over twenty years of sales, marketing, project management, teaching and technical experience.  Currently, he serves a sales manager for a high technology company.  He also taught business at the masters and doctoral levels at Wilmington University.

He is happily married for over 19 years and is the proud dad of their wonderful daughter.
